Last Updated on August 9, 2022 by Michelle McIver

How to access the electronic McIver Family Tree:

Use an internet browser to access the tree at tree.mciverpeiancestry.ca.

At the top of the main page, you will see a Search heading, where you can enter a First Name and/or Last Name.

You will only be able to search for deceased individuals. Information on living descendants is protected, and viewable only by an administrator.

Note that you may need to check variations of the last name, such as McKeever, McIver, McIvor.

Under the basic search above, click on Advanced Search. You can pick and choose as many search fields as you want. Below you will see the various search fields available.

You can also search by Other Events, which you can see by selecting Click to display under Other Events in the Advanced Search.

Individual page:

Once you have selected an individual from the search option, you will see all the information that exists in the database for this individual. There are several tabs available on this page, the most relevant being Individual, Ancestors, and Descendants.

Individual Tab:

This page is separated into 4 sections when fully populated. You can also select options from the blue toolbar under the Tabs. The most relevant is All, which shows all data (same as what is shown when you first select the individual from the search), and PDF, which provides a printable Individual Report.

Under the main Individual page, you will find all the base information about the individual in the first section, including:

  • Full name and nickname
  • When they were born, baptized, and died
  • Where they are buried
  • Any information on education and occupation

In the second section, you will find the parents of the individual, with their birth and death dates and locations.

In the third section, you will find the individual’s spouse and children, with their birth and death dates and locations.

In the fourth section, you will find various media, including photos, documents, headstones, histories, and general notes.

Ancestors Tab:

From this option, you will see a family tree, showing the individual’s ancestors (parents, grandparents, etc). In the blue toolbar under the Tabs, you can change how the family tree is displayed. You can also select the PDF option to get a printable version of the tree.

Descendants Tab:

From this option, you will see a family tree, showing the individual’s descendants (children, grandchildren, etc). In the blue toolbar under the Tabs, you can change how the family tree is displayed. You can also select the PDF option to get a printable version of the tree.

Options available from the Toolbar on the Main Page:

Not all of the options from the Toolbar on the Main Page are currently in use. The following options are currently available and may be useful for navigating through the information in the Tree.

The What’s New section displays the last 10 items added to each of the following categories within the last 30 days:

In each of the first three categories, you can see the person that the item is linked to (it may be linked to multiple people), and you can click on the link to view the item, or to view the person.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why can’t I see all the media items and people?

Details are withheld on all living people to protect the privacy of those individuals. This includes photos and other documents that may be linked to both a deceased family member and a living descendant. You will see the following message on items that are linked to a living descendant:

“At least one living or private individual is linked to this item.”
