Hugh McKeever Headstone Restoration Project: Update #3

This post is being posted on behalf of Betty McIver and Ron McIver, co-coordinators of the Hugh McKeever Headstone Restoration Project. The post below is written by Ron.

I mentioned in my initial post on this project that I would be sending out updates periodically, so this is update #3.

Regarding the installation date of the memorial bench, we just received word that unfortunately the bench will not be installed until later spring or early summer.
Due to weather issues, the monument company had to delay and postpone other projects across the Maritime Provinces which has a cascading effect on our installation date. I’m very disappointed but given the time of year and current weather conditions, it’s understandable. As soon as we are notified of a date in the spring, I’ll send another update out.
Our goal was to raise $8,932.80. I’m very pleased and proud to tell you that we have achieved our goal!!! To all the donors, thank you very much for your generous contributions to the Hugh McKeever Headstone Restoration Project. This memorial bench will be a lasting expression of our gratitude, appreciation and honour for the sacrifices of the first McKeever family that immigrated to Prince Edward Island.
Donations are now closed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at headstoneproject@mciverpeiancestry.ca
On behalf of Betty and myself, we’d like to thank you and wish each of you and your families, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Betty McIver and Ron McIver
